Working Principle

The Linear Systems Flame Rod Amplifier works in combination with a Flame Rod Sensor to monitor the presence of a burning flame. It provides a voltage to the flame electrode, which is inserted into the burner’s combustion zone.
When the flame is present, ionised particles within it conduct electricity in one direction, allowing a small current to flow through the flame to the ground. The amplifier detects this microamp-level current and sends a signal to the burner controller, confirming flame presence.
This flame rectification technique ensures the amplifier responds only to an actual flame — not to light, heat, or reflections — providing unmatched reliability in critical combustion systems.
